Headlines of Intangible Cultural Heritage

The NGO DRAGODID and the International Scientific Society for the Multidisciplinary Study of Dry Stone (S.P.S.) announce the holding of the XVII International Dry Stone Congress from 2 to 4 October 2020 in Croatia, hosted by the southern city of Konavle.

The art of dry-stone construction was inscribed in 2018 by eight European countries (Croatia, Cyprus, France, Greece, Italy, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland) on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity (UNESCO). The prospects opened up by this inscription will be the theme of this congress.

The aim of the congresses is to bring together dry stone practitioners, designers, specifiers and researchers, as well as land managers, professionals and enthusiasts to exchange views on current events and to broaden the network and cooperation between countries in order to disseminate knowledge and techniques.

The programme provides for :
September 27: Arrival of participants and/or volunteers
From September 28th to October 1st : participative workcamp
October 1st in the evening: welcome evening for the congress participants
2 and 3 October: communications + S.P.S. General Meeting
4 October: field visits on the theme of dry stone in the Konavle territory
